Faurecia, DMS Plan Jeep Components Plant in ToledoAutomotive suppliers Detroit Manufacturing Systems and Faurecia broke ground Wednesday in Toledo on a new factory to assemble and sequence components for the 2018 Jeep Wrangler.Construction is expected to be complete by February 2017.DMS representatives said they expected to hire 140 people for the plant by summer 2017, and possibly 100 more within the plant's first three years of operation.

Detroit Manufacturing Systems to occupy part of former Jeep plant site in ToledoDetroit Manufacturing Systems to occupy part of former Jeep plant site in ToledoTOLEDO, Ohio — Detroit Manufacturing Systems LLC broke ground Wednesday on a 102,000-square-foot factory in Toledo that will produce instrument clusters for the next generation Jeep Wrangler.The plant, built on environmentally remediated land that once housed the sprawling factory where the former Willys-Overland first produced Willys MBs during World War II, is expected to employ at least 140 people initially by summer 2017.The Jeep Parkway site, located along busy I-75, produced Jeeps until 2001.

First-Ever Toledo Jeep Fest RocksBrittany HillPhotographers: Ashley HillThe buzzing excitement leading up to the first-ever Toledo Jeep Fest could be felt far and wide long before the Saturday August 13, 2016, event.The 2015 Bantam Heritage Festival celebrated the 75th birthday of the first jeep pilot vehicle, but the Toledo Jeep Fest was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the signing of the military contract that put the first jeep vehicle into full production.The United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 12, Lucas County, and the city of Toledo spent nearly a year planning this one-day celebration that was complete with a parade through downtown Toledo, three stages of live music, an "all Jeep" car show at the SeaGate Centre, and of course, military and Jeep history.
