The 2018 Jeep Compass certainly has an appropriate name.By the time it goes on sale next year, it will have made two debuts on two continents.The redesigned model was unveiled at the Brazilian factory where it will be built, but it will also appear at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

2017 Jeep Compass Unveiled: On sale next spring

While details are limited at this point, we do know the 2017 Compass is based on a stretched version of the same Small Wide platform architecture that currently underpins the Fiat 500X and Jeep Renegade, and will be available in front- and all-wheel drive configurations.According to Jeep, the new Compass will offer no fewer than 17 different fuel-efficient powertrains, although it won't say which we'll see here until the Los Angeles intro.Best guesses at the moment include the coming Hurricane 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder and/or the existing 2.4-liter naturally aspirated Tigershark engine paired with FCA's 9-speed automatic.
