On Tuesday, November 2, the US Marshal's office conducted a search and seizure of a variety of automotive aftermarket products as part of US District Court, Civil Complaint number 2:16-cv-02527-APG-CWH, due to claimed infringements of Omix-ADA®'s patents and trademarks on products sold under the Rugged Ridge® brand.Based upon showing that it was likely to succeed on the merits of its claims for patent and trademark infringement, the district court granted Omix-ADA a restraining order against the certain parts suppliers that led to the search and seizure.The seizures took place at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show and Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX), taking place this week in Las Vegas.

United States Marshals took to the SEMA show in Las Vegas Wednesday to seize automotive/"_blank">automotive.com/category/cars/"_blank">car parts and booth materials from two Chinese companies who had products on display after the two corporations were accused of copyright infringement, Automotive News reports.Six other exhibitors at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo, also in Las Vegas, also had their displays taken down in the course of the same investigation later that day.The convention raids reportedly came after a suit was filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court, where Georgia-based aftermarket Jeep part company OMIX-ADA—the "world's largest independent manufacturer and wholesaler of Jeep parts and accessories," as it calls itself—claimed the Chinese brands were attempting to sell fake versions of its patented merchandise.
