The Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango share the same platform, powertrain and even driving features. The similarities between the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Dodge Durango are endless hence it is perhaps accurate to describe both vehicles as two-of-a-kind. Unlike the Grand Cherokee, the Durango is made to be the more practical choice as it has three rows of seats to offer. But that does not disrupt the fact that the Durango is still near-identical to the Grand Cherokee. The Durango SRT will be going on sale later this year and it will run on a 475hp 6.4L V8 engine.

A company spokesperson tells 13abc the layoffs are a direct result of Fiat-Chrysler moving Jeep Cherokee production out of Toledo. Auto suppliers in Northwest Ohio are announcing layoffs and closures, as Fiat-Chrysler prepares to move Jeep Cherokee (FCA) production from Toledo. The company says that move is also related to production of the Jeep Cherokee moving out of Toledo. Piston Automotive says, "As FCA ramps up production of the Jeep Wrangler, we anticipate being able to recall the laid-off employees." The company says it expects to ramp up production in its Jeep Wrangler program in November.
