Trump invited Bharara to Trump Tower in New York a few weeks after the election, and Bharara said Trump asked him to stay on at the time. Washington (CNN) Former US attorney Preet Bharara on Sunday talked about the three times President Donald Trump called him, and the one time he didn't answer. "No one knows right now whether there is a provable case of obstruction," Bharara said. The first contact between Mr. Trump and Mr. Bharara took place on Nov. 30, on the 26th floor of Trump Tower in Manhattan. Because Mr. Trump was not yet president, Mr. Bharara said he believed it was fine to call him. Mr. Bharara said the contacts with Mr. Trump made him increasingly uncomfortable because they broke with longstanding Justice Department rules on communicating with the White House. Mr. Trump, then the president-elect, praised his work and asked for him to stay on, Mr. Bharara said.
