The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Ryan Jones of Largo, is in jail on a DUI charge. (Clearwater Police)A man from Clearwater is facing charges of driving under the influence after making a wrong turn. Instead, he drove his Jeep into the water. Police said his breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit.

Jones was booked into the Pinellas County Jail at 4:19 a.m. Monday morning and has been charged with DUI and careless driving. He is being held in lieu of $500 bail, according to jail records. Under Florida law, a driver is presumed impaired at 0.08. Clearwater Police say Ryan Tyler Jones, 21, was speeding north over the Sand Key Bridge around 1:52 a.m. when he lost control of his Jeep Wrangler at the north end and drove into the water at 800 Bayway Blvd., at the Bayside condos.
