Jeep Wrangler tops revised American-Made Index quoting : "LeftLane News"
The Toledo, Ohio-made Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited tied for the top spot, with the Jeep Cherokee ranked second. The online marketplace's annual American-Made Index looks at manufacturing location, domestic parts content and the number of jobs supported by the production of specific models to determine its top picks. The iconic Jeep Wrangler is the most-American car you can spend your money on, according to a new survey conducted by Cars.com. Based on a new methodology without a minimum domestic-parts content, the 2017 index kicks previous-winner Toyota out of the top 10. "By the original requirements, only three 2017 models would have qualified this year. Certain restrictions in prior years, including a minimum 75-percent domestic parts content, gradually disqualified nearly every vehicle now produced in the US. "The cars on this year's list hail from automakers headquartered in Europe and Asia as well as North America."
